King George Farmers Market – $10 for 10 Weeks promotion
To promote the campaign this Farmers Market is working with a local radio station. With a $10 contribution to KGFM and a pledge to spend $10 in 10 different weeks between April 28 and Oct. 13 the pledge will receive a validation card. Each time the pledge spends $10 a week at the market, they can get their card validated at the welcome table. When the reach 10 validations they receive an invitation to the King George’s Market ‘Feast in the Field’ celebration in the fall.
The Shenandoah Forum – $10 for 10 week promotion
In Shenandoah Valley the Shenandoah Forum has created Validation & Information cards about the challenge that will be available at public libraries, county and town offices. Farmers will mark off how much you bought at their stands on the Validation Card. At the end of the 10 weeks the participants can show their “Challenge Card” and receive a reusable cloth shopping bag created exclusively for the campaign.

Piedmont Environmental Council
PEC has helped support the $10 a week challenge in myriad ways. One way was publishing an article in all of the 2012 Buy Fresh, Buy Local Guides. Download an online guide from you region or contact jpalmer[at]pecva.org to get a hard copy.
Virginia State University
VSU promotes the campaign by sending emails and posting materials about the $10 campaign on campus to employees and students. Also they have let VCE agricultural and natural resource agents in their area know about the campaign.
Write an article
The Virginia Farm Bureau published an article in CULTIVATE a journal with a focus on safe, fresh and locally grown foods and the Virginia farms that produce them. See page 19.
